Colan Grootenboer Bio

Osteopathic Practitioner | Athletic Therapist

Colan Grootenboer is an Osteopathic Practitioner and Athletic Therapist who works at Healing Hands Therapy Inc. in Campbell River, BC.  Originally from Ontario, he went to University of Guelph, ON and Sheridan College (Oakville, ON) to obtain his degree in Human Kinetics and a diploma in Sports Injury Management.  While studying post-secondary schooling he represented the Guelph Gryphons and Sheridan Bruins soccer teams and was named Academic All-Canadian Athlete in 2005.  After working as the head therapist for 3 years with the Soo Greyhounds (OHL) he moved to Campbell River, BC in 2008.

Since being in Campbell River, Colan has worked for ErgoRisk/MoveSafe focussing on industrial pain management and return to work programs while studying Oseopathy in Vancouver, BC.  During this time, he has established a local and regional clientele which began at a home office but is currently at a clinical space since 2016.

Working with clients in a one on one setting using manual therapy techniques has always been a preference of treatment approach for Colan.  Having a curiosity and desire to learn about the body’s natural mechanics, physiology and anatomy is also another interest of Colan.  Applying the principles of Osteopathy and Athletic Therapy with his clients offers a unique approach to optimize one’s health in a holistic way.  Colan is passionate about helping people overcome and improve their dysfunctions.  From acute pain to concussion management to pregnancy / post partum / infant treatments to complex chronic pain to return to sport progressions, Colan has unique training, skills and life experience to help a wide variety of clients.

Colan, along with his wife Georgina Knox, and two children are active members of the Campbell River community.  They enjoy the outdoors and currently are engaged in many activities from camping, skiing, biking, hiking, to soccer, hockey and beyond.
